 Use sports & fitness to help obtain mental and physical well-being.

Regular exercise is an important element to maintaining your well-being as it can benefit you both physically and mentally. It doesn't have to be boring - just find the physical activity that works for you. It can include swimming, walking, jogging, running, dancing and sports such as football.

Some of the benefits of regular exercise include:

  • improves your mood and reduces feelings of depression, anxiety and stress;

  • helps with weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight;

  • maintains strong muscles and bones;

  • increases your energy levels;

  • helps improve relaxation and sleep;

  • reduces the risks of illnesses and diseases.

The NHS recommends we do two different types of physical activity each week to stay healthy - aerobic and strength exercise. How much we do depends on our age - but if between 19-64, we should do 150 minutes of weekly physical activity or 30 minutes over five days every week.
